With a lackluster day on the Sierra City run on the NF of the Yuba and Lavozella Creek, we gave a call to Scott and planned on Pauley Creek for the next day. This one did end up being a classic, this is a great run that can be entertaining for a mixed group of boaters, as all ones needs is decent class IV skills, yet it is still entertaining because waterfalls are allways fun. Federal Falls was our first scout, a large overhead log marks the entrance. There is a small eddy on river left, and the falls have a right plunge line or a left rock boof, very fun.

In a funny moment after this, I got out to take pictures, and after Scott ran it he got out as well. Its quite walled in and really has no spot to get out, and in doing so Scott managed to drop his paddle, and we had no quick way to get back in the boats. Jon ran the falls and the next ledge drop and snagged the paddle, and eventually we worked the paddle back to him after some humorous moments. Scott reunited with his paddle on the fun ledge below Federal.

Next up was a little bit of II boogie water, then a nice 5-6' ledge. (Scott runs it)
Joel

followed by this fun little slide.

Shortly after the small slide is the fun 15' mentioned in Holbek & Stanley, this slide/falls is super fun.

The creek mellowed out for a while after this, although the scenery stayed great. Eventually we came up to a 3-4' drop leading into a large horizon line which ended up being Pauley Falls. It looked super bony, Jon went for it anyways and had a surprisingly clean line missing all the rocks.

Another trip, more water so the left line kind of went.

If you have a mix of class III-V boaters I can't think of a better run to do together, if you can make small moves and have a consistent roll this run is for you, as the only one with hazards (Pauley) has a easy portage or takeout on river right.
Huge dam we drove over on the way there from Chico in '06.
