NF Feather

Thanks to AW the NF Feather outside of Chico now gets releases during the summer and fall. There is a good writeup of the runs on CaCreekin
Here are a few pictures from this last weekend. Joel Vengley takes the auto-boof on the right of County Line.

Jon getting a fun boof on the left of County Line.

There really aren't any great writups on the Sunday run, and a bit of a mix up on names that are just all word of mouth. It seems like the "Rock Creek" run is the upper class III section, with a takout at the "Tobin" run. The Tobin run is a fun short run with two class IV rapids and one long V that ends at a green bridge. This is a possible take-out for Tobin and put-in for "Lowbin" a solid class IV run that goes down to the powerhouse and final take-out. Tobin is a fun run that many laps can be done on, and is similar to Burnt Ranch in many ways. It's more continuous but the moves aren't as hard, and hazards are in plenty. Random person somewhere in the mess of rocks on Tobin.

Scott Yoder on the last rapid in Lowbin.

Sean in the same rapid, and fired up after another good run.

There is also great free camping up Caribou road across from Belden Town. I prefer it over the train noise in the canyon. There is a USFS pay campground with water or plenty of free camping on National Forest further up the road.
